The places and faces of your life

Never leave you alone.

At the odd moment, things comes rushing back,

Taking you to places you had once been,

Places you thought you’d never see again.

The city, a party, a train, the restaurant or a bar.

A face of someone from long ago,

Seeps through the fog of memory,

Until it emerges crystal clear.

You see the face and the place, and recall why it mattered,

And you smile at the moment of remembering,
