A Wonderful Time of Year

Something I wrote a few years ago. I still like it.

The Chocolates of My Mind

I am an unabashed lover of the holidays.

Coming from an adult who is, to steal a line from a Jimmy Buffet Christmas song, “…a long way from my first birthday,” that might sound funny, but I am an unrepentant romantic, and if there is one time of the year that feeds into that, it’s Christmas. It’s the time of the year when we look at the world, not as it is, but as it should be.

We believed in Santa Claus. We believed in the Christmas Story. We believed that all was right with the world for a brief moment on those Christmas Eve’s that are burned in our memories, memories that make each new Christmas Eve seem so poignantly familiar.
